Karrueche

Karrueche has been one of my new favs <3

If you come to Utila...

It's crazy I am just now able to share this!!!
Better late than never though :)
Babes and I went on a 10 day trip to Honduras the first week in July.

It was crazy and fun and relaxing all at once.

We flew in late on Saturday and stayed at La Hamaca, so the next morning we got up early and went to breakfast with some locals - who dropped us off with our guide at the base of the mountain.

We hiked and hitchhiked pickup trucks into Cusuco National Park, all the way up the mountain and into the jungle. Once at the top of the mountain, we stopped at a village in a hut owned by a family who ran a coffee plantation. It was very small - but the coffee was the best I'd ever had.

We proceeded to hike to the Toucan Waterfall, but it was late - so we ended up getting to the waterfall at 10pm when it was too dark for pictures. The waterfall was huge and magnificent, you could feel the power being so close to it. After we rested for 30 mins or so, we hiked 2 hours back in the dark... in the jungle.

That was a wild experience. lol

We stayed at the hut where we were offered coffee. We couldn't remember her name but it was something along the lines of Dona Maria. The next morning, we hitchhiked again to head down the mountain. We didn't walk as much on the way down as we did on the way up, and once we made it back to our hostel and grabbed our things - we hopped in a cab to the bus station to make our way for La Ceiba.

The bus ride was great. We used Hedman Alas, and they gave us a drink and snack, it was air conditioned (a little too cold for my taste lol) and had large comfy seats. It was a 3 hour ride and we were in La Ceiba. We got a cab to our hostel El Estadio, which was a neat little place ran by a Rastafarian dude. We were able to walk into the market and grab some snacks - it was a very busy little area where no one paid attention to road rules!

We had a few extra days where we didn't make plans to allow for any travel changes/spontaneous adventures - but were getting anxious to get to the island, so the next morning we took the earliest ferry to Utila.

We didn't know this at the time but the Ferry's nickname is the "Vomit Comet" <-- gross.

I can see why. It was ROUGH. I took one motion sickness pill, because I heard it was a rough ride - but I'm normally not affected by stuff like that so I didn't think it would be a big deal. I wish I'd had taken two pills that morning - I didn't get sick, but I definitely felt like shit, and couldn't WAIT for that ride to be over!!!

We made it to the island and the Dive shop we stayed at got us started early. Babes went diving that same day, and I started my Open Water Course.

The rest of the vacation was full of scuba diving, sunshine, hammocks, drinking, eating, sleeping, scuba diving, taking shots for free t-shirts, swimming, and more scuba diving. lol

Monday we took the 6am ferry, caught a bus, and made our flight back to the good ol' USofA.

We stayed with Grandma and after breakfast on Tuesday she took us back to the airport where we made our final flight.

As always, the end of vacations are so bittersweet.

I will have to share photos with you later :)

Improv at the Theatre

A couple of months ago a group of girlfriends and I went to an improv show at the theatre downtown.

It was a night full of drinks and dirty jokes :)

I see fire

"Watch the flames burn auburn
on the mountain side

...and if we should die tonight
we should all die together
raise a glass of wine
for the last time"

He is just so talented.

Sunday Lawn Concert

I love that our town has Sunday Lawn Concerts.

Sunday evenings, they get a band to play and everyone brings chairs, beers, and snacks to wind down the weekend.

Jessica Sanchez

I remembered my boss telling me about Jessica Sanchez when she was on American Idol
(before she got hot)...

I stumbled across one of her covers recently, and loved it.

I can't say the same for the rest of her music, but I love the cover...

Doesn't hurt she's thin&beautiful, too.

*charmed*

I got my Pandora bracelet a while back - and for a brief moment, I was pumped about getting charms for it and filling it up...

Then I kind of put it to the side, and didn't worry so much about new charms.

Now, I have told myself that I will make sure to get a new charm when something warrants it.

All of the charms on my Pandora right now mean something very special to me.

When I got back from Scuba Diving - I went and got a turtle charm, since I seen 3 sea turtles in just one dive on this trip!

Rise & Grind

Today, I am leaving for a week for work.

Since January, I've went on 3 week-long trips for work. This will be the 4th.

I always appreciate and am thankful for the opportunity to grow and further my knowledge and my career, and this trip is no different. I am excited for the upcoming week and what the company has in store for us! This is my favorite trip to take of the year, since it's our Corporate Summer Meeting.

Lot's of fun and enjoyable things over the course of this meeting - first, our company basically rents out the entire hotel lol - and we have a volleyball tournament (which I am playing in again this year!) - HUGE awards ceremonies - motivational speakers and guests - breakouts - and we always get taken to Ichiban on the day before the formal dinner (which I love) ...

This year is a little bit different for me - because I have had the honor of being chosen for a pilot that is rolling out for our upcoming season. I'm one of only 25 people in the whole company who was asked to be a part of the creation and feedback of creating the software that will replace our current system.

Kind of a big deal - and we are rolling it out this Fall season.

Also - our area kicked ass this year so I know we will be getting recognized in a few areas.

It's going to be a really exciting meeting for me and my group this year!

Journal Addict

Along with my obsession for really old books, I also have a thing for notebooks and journals.

I love inspirational, artsy journals.

I've had the smaller arc notebook for a while, and recently purchased the standard size one. I am a little bit obsessed with them <3

I snapped some shots of a few I had laying around...

This actually sits out for display on a book stand.

My favorite journal ever <3
The cover is just a DIY book cover I threw on it.

#art

Obsessed.

Doodles and cut-outs.

Kendall & Kylie

I am not scared to admit it.

I have grown into a fan of these girls the older and more beautiful they become.

Kendall has always been the "pretty&skinny one"
... but Kylie is quickly surpassing Kendalls beauty.

I don't care if it's because of surgery or a phenomenal make-up artist

I dig it, they are definitely inspiration&motivation.

Osprey Farpoint 55

I had to get a backpack for my most recent travel adventure.

After researching and looking at every backpack that's on the market - I couldn't be happier with the one I chose.

This backpack was the perfect size for my 10 day trip, and I even had some extra room.

I was looking for a pack that was panel loading, not larger than 60L, was comfortable to wear for any hiking or extended wait times that might be encountered, and also it would be an added benefit if I could find something that would work as a carry on (I despise checking luggage).

I managed to find all of those things in this backpack - and for a reasonable price!

The best part of this pack though - is the detachable day pack.

-It came in handy on SO many occasions-
- On the plane as a carry on for those items I wanted with me
- On the bus rides when we had to stow our larger pack
- Quick trips around the town when we needed to take items, but didn't need - or want - to lug a full pack around
- etc.

I was also impressed with the comfort of this bag. I'm not quite sure how much mine weighed when it was fully packed up - but I enjoyed the day pack could attach to the front of my body to evenly distribute the weight and make the pack even more comfortable to trek around with.

The only thing I did buy was a few extra clips since the front of the day pack doesn't have any. The clips were $5 and worked perfectly - so it wasn't an issue.

I am so glad I decided to go with the Osprey Farpoint 55

Our packs ready to leave for vacation!!
(Babes has a M/L (Olive)... mine is slightly smaller - S/M option (Charcoal)

Blog Fail

I've been a horrible blogger as of late.

I've been very busy and haven't made time to post.

I just got back from vacation, and it seems I've found some motivation to start blogging again...

I will be gone for a week in July for a corporate work event, but I am aiming to catch up on some posts before then :)

Busy, Busy!
