There's only one person I trust with my hair. That's always been the case. 

The only problem with that? She's in Michigan. 

So I've had to get creative in keeping my hair trimmed during the "in betweens" of my trips home.

I've been considering a "big chop" over Christmas while I'm home....

Movies on the Lawn

Last Thursday the Museum hosted:

"Movie on the Lawn"

They played Monuments Men, which we had already seen - but it was nice.

We took snacks, a few beers, and a decent group of friends met us there. We also took the little dog, who seemed to enjoy himself as well :)

It was something different to do, on a weeknight. I'm glad we went!

Wine&Cheese

A few weeks ago a friend had a wine and cheese party. 

Everyone was to bring a cheese, and she supplied the wines. 

While I didn't get a lot of pictures, it was a ton of fun - complete with a plethora of wines,cheeses, and other fun details.

It was beautiful weather outside to enjoy the patio, and have good conversations with fun people drinking wine and nibbling on cheese!

Words can't describe the happiness I feel inside right meow!!!

 

Last week, honeydoll and I booked flights to Michigan for Christmas.

 

What's most exciting is we are planning it now, ensuring to make a trip up north, across the bridge to see my aunt - and also to the west side of the state!

 

I'm so excited that the babes will get to meet almost all of my family that hasn't been introduced yet, as well as see most of the state that I will forever call home.

 

I'm praying for a white Christmas <3

Pumpkin Party!

Last weekend a friend had a Pumpkin Carving Party. 

Almost everyone brought a pumpkin, we munched on snacks, drank beers, listened to music, chatted away and carved our pumpkins. 

It was a lot of fun, and the hostess has a chubby black cat who was super adorable and sweet - and hung out with us, only adding to the Halloween vibe ;-P 

This was my first year carving a white pumpkin. I decided to do something different than usual.

 I originally planned to do a Jack Skellyton creation, but I changed my design last minute - and let babe carve Jack, while I attempted the Tim Burton Chesire Cat :) 

I love carving pumpkins. I can't remember a year back home where we didn't get everyone together and have a pumpkin carving contest. 

While this year wasn't a contest, it was fun to have a large group of us together enjoying the seasons festivities!!

Crochet

I stumbled across this incredible etsy page called The Velvet Acorn

 

Well, actually my mother did... but she said she thought I'd love it... so I checked it out.

 

She was right, I did!!

 

It inspired me to attempt making one of the crocheted animal cowls, since it's just the patterns that are available for purchase.

 Most items are advertised using the owners daughter, but easily these could be adjusted for adults.  

 

I crocheted a scarf and it turned out quite well, but I haven't done a whole lot since then - and definitely nothing with a lot of detail, or anything other than basic patterns.

 

I picked up a bit of yarn, a large hook, and some buttons...

 

 

Now I just need to decide which one I like best! ;-P

I swooped this Matte Topcoat by OPI a while ago.

 

Honestly, I've been hesitant to jump into the matte nail game...

I feel like it's been drilled into my head the shinier and glossier the nails are, the better!

(hence why I'm constantly top-coating, and why I love shellac)

 

 

I'm definitely opening up to the matte look though - my favorite right now being the matte black manicure with the glossy black french tip.

 

 

My two staple nail colors (excluding a French) have always been black and nude.

I love how classic, simple and clean they look with anything.
