A Dirty kind of Clean

I feel like I've tried so many dry shampoos...

this is just what I happened to have in my stash right now...

I will say of all the dry shampoos I have tried - Batiste is by far the best.

It's worth spending the few extra bucks on.

I don't like the dark and deep brown one though, it leaves a gross dark film - and when you wash it out, it's like your hair has dirt all up in it.
Nasty.

The others are good though. I like the fresh scents. It's easy to blend in and seems to last for me, longer than some of the other brands I have tried.

I am glad that at least one brand of dry shampoo works!
Perfection for those mornings you don't have time to wash your hair.

message in a bottle

A soft breeze blows and cools my skin.
Unwanted thoughts of you welcome themselves.

I listen, as my mind flutters like the leaves on the concrete.

Life seems to blow like that breeze,
skipping quickly
and disappearing untraced.

I close my eyes,
and dream of moments passed...

My heart makes a desperate attempt
to recollect every detail
each breath passed like a rolling tide,
to embrace what was...

Every heartbeat.
Each breathtaking smile.
Every mouthwatering kiss,
and the smell of your skin as we lay close and quiet.

Moments with you,
are my best ones.

My heart feels like yesterday,
but the clock speaks heavy.

Time steals what is mine.

I long to reach out,
and pull down the moon.
Whisper my dreams,
and breathe "remember..."

Don't

When you begin to miss me.

Don't.

When you've understood it was a mistake and want to make right.

Don't

When your heart tells you it loves me.

Don't.

When you realize it was me all along.

Don't

When you can't anymore...

Don't

Because I can't anymore either...

inside my cage

It's so loud.
So loud my head hurts.

I fight,
so I won't have to face what comes
when darkness settles in.

Maybe it's my heart that hurts...

I silently wonder what they dream about...
Quiet and Alone.

Silence.

Do they dream happiness?
Do they dream fear and jealousy?

Wings flap and bang adamantly in my cage.
Watching the over-sized insects that wander this waking world...
Judging.
Cold and Heartless.

Do they feel anything at all?

Be Here Now - Ram Dass

Since I was little, I always remember being fascinated with unusual books. I enjoyed large hard covers, or vintage covers that looked centuries old...

While in Marfa, I stumbled upon some books that looked very interesting.

I decided to purchase this one:

I have only finished the first section of the book, which was very interesting. Oddly, I was a bit disappointed there wasn't more to the story. In a nutshell, it covered his life from an affluent professor at Harvard to surrendering his worldly possessions to continue his search of "knowing"...

He took drugs, traveled, and met different people.

It was an intriguing and unexpected story.

I've enjoyed it thus far.
The middle of the book (contents 2) is mostly sorts of the pages you see above. Quotes, drawings, etc...

Definitely an unusual book.

Ben Howard

Ben Howard - Only Love

Ben Howard - Promise

I love his accent, mellow vibe, and distinct sound.
Some of him reminds me of Damien Rice, whom I am also a fan.

Marfa and more...

This past weekend we made the trek to a small, artsy little town called Marfa.

Friday after work we loaded up and drove to Ft. Davis - where we attended a Star Party at McDonald Observatory (which was absolutely beautiful... I would recommend this to anyone) and slept outside, underneath the stars.

Ft. Davis was cool. It had all kinds of bendy, curvy roads - lush green trees and grass - and interesting rock formations.

Saturday morning was beautfiul.

Honestly, it was hard to get up from under the covers. The air was chilly and crisp like autumn in Michigan.

After showers and a "drink", we headed to Marfa.

It was Labor Day weekend, and the Marfa Lights Festival, so when we made reservations - the only place that had ONE opening was El Cosmico, so I booked the Safari Tent (I wished it was one of the teepees!).

El Cosmico "Sign"

I was SO glad we got into this place. It was awesome.

It was an adorable hippie campground with the best style inside of the office. The owner had the neatest eye for design. I wanted to take her home with me!

The showers were open, and people practiced yoga on the grass... it was definitely inspiring.

Tent lit up at night

We couldn't check in until the afternoon, so we went downtown and got a bite to eat and walked around to shop and see what it was all about!

After we walked the town, we unloaded the bike and took it to see the infamous Prada Marfa.

Lol

We finally checked in, and that night we went out to dinner and went to see the Marfa Lights. We played a little frisbee, and layed under the stars again - pointing out constellations and laughing at our own jokes.

Sunday we got up when our internal clocks said so, and took the bike to a small swiss cafe called Squeeze Marfa *breakfast was awesome* and headed back to the site so we could load up and get on the road.

While we were so close, we stopped in Balmorhea to go swimming in "one of the world’s largest spring-fed pools, with water so crystal clear you’ll want to bring your snorkeling gear to experience the underwater world below."

It was the perfect ending to a magnificent trip.

I came home feeling inspired and happy.

Michigan

Milk Carton Kids - Michigan
The clouds move over Pontiac skies
Their silent thunder matches mine
I know this feeling from long ago
I wondered was it gone, but now I know

So when she calls, don't send her my way
When it hurts, you'll know it's the right thing

Michigan's in the rear-view now
Keep your hands where I could see 'em
It took the words right out my mouth
When you knew that I would need 'em
What am I supposed to do now,
Without you
Without you

It's unannounced like you'd expect it
I'm on broke down brake lines and mo-town records
And all that's left is a blind reflection
But you know what's coming and you regret it

So when she calls, don't send her my way
When it hurts most it's the right thing

Michigan's in the rear-view now
Keep your hands where I could see 'em
It took the words right out my mouth
When you knew that I would need 'em
What am I supposed to do now,
Without you
Without you

Michigan's in the rear-view now
Keep your hands where I could see 'em
It took the words right out my mouth
When you knew that I would need 'em
What am I supposed to do now,
Without you
Without you...

Orange is the new Black

What can I say - I'm straight obsessed with this show.

flew through the first season - only to find out that the second season wouldn't air until sometime in 2014.

Ugh. Bummsies...
